Air Harvesting
The conventional resources of energy are limited and they generate pollution when they are brunt. Human have identified many new resources of energy which are renewable and do not pollute the environment, some of them are Solar power, Water Power and Wind Power.
Sun is the biggest source of energy. Every movement in earths environment is related to SUN . The wind blows due to sun. The rays of SUN also produce lot of heat , due to heat in environment low air pressure area is developed, once two areas of different air pressure are there air starts blowing from high pressure area to low pressure area, the wind flow depends upon the pressure difference. When the air moves it carries lot of movement energy, we can generate power using this energy.
To harvest air power we require air turbines, these air turbines are installed in a large area and when air blows these turbines are rotated. The turbines are connected to electricity generators through a shaft. When the turbines start moving the electricity generator also moves and it generates electricity. The turbines used in this technology are blade-type vertical axis wind turbines. These turbines are made up of carbon fiber material which is very light in weight and have log life. The air turbines are generally installed in area near sea because air flow near sea is higher then other areas.
The amount of energy generated by the air turbines depends up the speed of air, more the speed of air more the electricity is generated. This energy generated by this technology is clean and does not harm the environment. Generally the air power can be started using a single air turbine but the amount of energy generated will be small. All countries are encouraging their agencies to use and produce the air power.
The cost for the big air harvesting plant is huge but governments are providing subsidy's for that. These air turbines have long life and lasts up to 40 years. So the air power is a cheap and clean way of generating power.
